Ireland (or Éire) was a nation-state on the planet Earth, comprised of the island of Ireland.
History[]

Great Britain first invaded the island in the 12th century, and occupied and governed it for centuries, often marked by rebellion. In 1922, the island was divided, creating the Irish Free State (which became the Republic of Ireland 1937), and Northern Ireland, which remained part of the United Kingdom.
Decades of strife and terrorist activity followed, with the goal of bringing about a united Ireland. Reunification finally came about in the year 2024 when all of Ireland reunited when the north was taken from the United Kingdom through violence. (TNG episode: "The High Ground")

In 2151, the students of Worley Elementary School in Kenmare, County Kerry, Ireland submitted questions to the crew of the Enterprise. (ENT episode: "Breaking the Ice")
Ghettos of the poor remained in the northern parts of Ireland for some centuries, with the last few surviving into the 23rd century. Youth gangs were common in one of these cities. (FASA RPG module: Orion Ruse)

County Cork and County Kerry were regions in Ireland, with County Kerry being the location of Kenmare. This was the site of Worley Elementary School. (ENT episode: "Breaking the Ice") The village of Portmagee was also located in County Kerry. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)
The capital of Ireland is Dublin. (DS9 novel: Warchild)
Inis Mór was a small island off the west coast of Ireland. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: Rise Like Lions)
Mirror universe[]
In the mirror universe, Irish history followed a similar course with respect to its numerous conflicts with Britain over the course of several centuries. (DS9 novel: The Soul Key)
Alternate timeline[]
In an alternate timeline accidentally created by Leonard McCoy saving Edith Keeler's life in March 1930, Ireland was conquered by Nazi Germany prior to 1944. Before its conquest, it was bombarded by German V-2 rockets for months.
On May 11, 1946, Phil Dickinson was killed in action in Ireland. His widow Lynn Dickinson found little comfort in the fact that his death at the Battle of Portmagee had helped to liberate the country from the Nazis. This in turn led to the Allies retaking the United Kingdom. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)
