Isoth Fortress was a 23rd century Sarsith military installation with an associated spaceport on the planet Sarsithia, located in the M-21 star cluster near the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant.

History and specifics[]

The facility was a stone structure with a pier built along a seashore. The compound included a fortified medical center and quarters for thousands of soldiers. Its spaceport serviced Sarsith military spacecraft, including those of the elite Brotherhood of Waters faction such as Sarsith fighters and Sarsith warships.

In the 2270s, Isoth Fortress was the last stronghold of the invading Mirmonot before they were driven off, leaving the exterior structure mostly intact but with moderate damage to streets and buildings after centuries of war. As Sarsith society recovered, famine set in, leading to squabbles for bread in the streets.

In 2274, Tath was in charge of the fortress hospital when an injured Doctor Christine Chapel was brought there after being infected with a local plague. Chapel was kept sedated in an isolation chamber with a respirator unit while Leonard McCoy researched antidotes for similar diseases. During her treatment, a group of frustrated citizens attempted to break into the hospital, but General Onoth shot them down. The USS Enterprise then installed Portable Kitchen Unit 03 in the streets to provide food and quell further unrest.

When Chapel revived, she was in an agitated delirium with amnesia. She overpowered the starship's security forces and fled into fortress streets. To her, the installation looked like a prison. She evaded search parties, found the spaceport, knocked out two unsuspecting mechanics, and took their Sarsith transport. (TOS comic: "Quarantine")
