Isotolinium is a liquid material used by the Cardassians as a power source in a variety of technologies, including consoles and weapons.

One possible danger of using isotolinium as a power source is that if the charged liquid was released in a single burst, the energy released could vaporize an unshielded mass equivalent to four cubic meters of tritanium. No isotolinium-based explosives were ever introduced into the Bajor theater of operations by the Cardassians. (DS9 reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

During her training in the Obsidian Order, Iliana Ghemor had to quickly assemble a disruptor from a variety of parts given to her. She managed to assemble it, including its isotolinium ampoule, in a record time. In 2375, she used this training to expose the isotolinium ampoule of a weapon she obtained after escaping her cell on Letau. Telal fired his weapon at the rifle, causing a massive explosion that killed several Jem'Hadar soldiers. (DS9 novel: Fearful Symmetry)

The Bajorans also use isotolinium as a power source for their phaser drills. (DS9 video game: The Fallen)
