A Risian wearing a ja'risia.
A ja'risia was a small, gold-colored disk traditionally worn by Risians on their foreheads, much like a bindiWP in some Human cultures. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
- This identifying Risian characteristic was first seen in TNG episode: "Captain's Holiday", and again in DS9 episode: "Let He Who Is Without Sin...", but never named in canon.
At some point before the 32nd century, Risians begin tattooing the ja'risia on their foreheads as opposed to wearing a decoration. (DIS: "The Examples")
