Jack Ransom was a 24th century Human man, an officer of Starfleet in the 2380s decade. (LD episode: "Second Contact")
Biography[]
Ransom was assigned to the Federation starship USS Cerritos as a commander by the year 2380. He served as first officer under Captain Carol Freeman and was friends with Lieutenant Commander Steve Stevens.
On stardate 57436.2, Ransom called Ensign Brad Boimler to the bridge, to join him on an away mission to a planet. The commander suffered an insect bite was infected by a rage virus. When the away team returned to the ship, the biofilters did not catch the disease.
This led to a viral outbreak that turned the crew into animalistic flesh-eaters. An unhinged Commander Ransom fed from a humanoid neck at one point. His friend Stevens was gravely injured and strapped to a biobed in sickbay under the care of Doctor T'Ana. The cure was released through the ship's environmental system, curing the infected instantaneously. (LD episode: "Second Contact")
