Jamaica is an island nation on Earth located about 145 kilometers south of Cuba and 120 miles west of the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean Sea.

History and specifics[]

In March 2153, Jamaica was among the regions struck by the Xindi superweapon. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Tower of Babel)

Starfleet Commander-in-Chief Margaret Sinclair-Alexander was born in Jamaica in the early 23rd century. (TOS - Crucible novel: The Star to Every Wandering)

In the 2250s or 2260s, Hikaru Sulu visited Jamaica to collect orchids. (TOS - The Janus Gate novel: Future Imperfect)

In 2270, James T. Kirk affectionately described Jamaica as a banana republic, citing its semitropical climate and banana trees to Piper. (TOS novel: Battlestations!)

In the 23rd and 24th century, Jamaica was well known for its coffee. (TAS - Log Six novelization: The Practical Joker, TOS novel: Sarek) One type in particular was Jamaican Blue Mountain. (VOY - Strange New Worlds VIII short story: "Coffee with a Friend")
