Jannim was a heroic folklore figure in the Lisqual culture of planet Betrisius III. His name meant "Bringer of Light," and he was considered a champion of the oppressed. In the traditional tales, he repeatedly angered the magistrates of his society, eventually leading to his execution.

In 2377, Dolanara adopted the alias "Jannim" during her efforts to demonstrate the Lisqual government's abuses of the reformant population, broadcasting several messages while disguised in a cloak, her face in shadows and voice manipulated. (CoE eBook: Turn the Page)
