Jataq'qat was a native of Meldrar I in the 24th century.

By 2376 Jataq'qat was an ensign in Starfleet serving on Deep Space 9. He challenged Kira Nerys to a game of springball, but they never got the opportunity to play before Jataq'qat was killed in April of that year in a Jem'Hadar attack on the station.

In accordance with his people's traditions, a pouch of his blood was sent back to Meldrar I to be poured into the sea. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One)
