Jayme Miranda was a Human female who served in Starfleet in the 24th century. She spent a significant part of her childhood in San Francisco. Miranda came from a long line of Starfleet engineers and entered Starfleet Academy with the intention of also becoming an engineer.

Miranda attended the Academy from 2368 to 2372. During her first year, her roommate was a fourth-year cadet named Elma; however, Elma dropped out Starfleet Academy early into the semester leaving Miranda without a roommate. The other members of her quad were Nev Reoh, T'Rees, Moll Enor, Bobbie Ray Jefferson, Starsa Taran, and Hammon Titus.

During her third year, Miranda and Taran were assigned field duty at Jupiter Station, where they worked with Reginald Barclay and Lewis Zimmerman. While working with Doctor Zimmerman on the Emergency Medical Hologram, Miranda realized that she did not want to be an engineer and wanted to be a doctor instead. Her family, professors, and classmates were shocked, but Miranda was sure that she could finish the pre-med requirements in time to graduate with the rest of her class.

In 2371 she, Jefferson, and Enor became involved in a local revolution while vacationing on Rahm-Izad. Miranda, with Enor and Jefferson's assistance, represented the Izad in their negotiations with the Rahm and helped resolve the situation peacefully. After this, Miranda and Enor became romantically involved, although they were immediately separated when Enor was offered a position on the Enterprise.

In 2372 Miranda finished her studies at Starfleet Academy and entered Starfleet Medical Academy. (TNG novel: The Best and the Brightest)

Family[]

Miranda had a very large family, most of who were engineers. In 2370 her mother was an engineer on the USS Gandhi, and her older sister Raylin was third in command of engineering on Deep Space 2. In 2371 her great-aunt Marley Miranda was an admiral at Starfleet Headquarters. In the summer of 2369 she visited her aunt Dani on the USS Endeavour while it was on patrol near the border of Bajor. She also had a great-great aunt who served on the USS Enterprise-B and a third cousin who served on the USS Enterprise-C.
