Jean Ravel was a 23rd century Human woman, a scientist who worked for the Federation Bureau of Colonization.

History[]

In 2266, Ravel joined Professor Richard Spellman's mission to assess the potential for human colonization of the planet Selkye, acting as his assistant. She and the team traveled to the planet aboard the starship USS Enterprise. As technicians began setting up a base camp, Ravel and Spellman joined James T. Kirk, Spock and Leonard McCoy to explore a nearby ancient city. Ravel was the first to spot desiccated humanoid Selkye toad creatures, along with several affectionate beavos. McCoy kept one as a pet, and Ravel brought the rest back to the base camp. One beavo clung affectionately to her.

The next day, after the Enterprise departed, she and her team felt sick and weak. Many of the Selkye toad creatures arrived and tried to break into the base camp. She and the others recovered after Kirk isolated the beavos. The base was packed up, and Revel returned to the Enterprise. (TOS comic: "Planet of the Dead")
