Jenkins was a Human man in Starfleet in the 23rd century. He served as a yeoman aboard the USS Enterprise, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, in the 2260s.

In 2269, during the mission on Kyros, Jenkins was on duty in the transporter room when Spock arrived and sent him to check the tight beam antenna in the Jeffries tube. When he returned half an hour later, he found Spock gone. It struck his as odd that Spock would leave the station unmanned, and reported this unusual behavior to Lieutenant Rogers, who later reported it to Kirk after the transporter was found to have been tampered with.
