Jerusalem was an ancient city on Earth, in the Middle Eastern region. Jerusalem was the historic capital of the State of Israel and is a holy city in the Human religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
History
The city was the subject of a number of military conflicts during Earth's Middle Ages, which would come to be called Crusades. The city of Salem, Massachusetts was named in its honor, by colonizing American Pilgrims in the 17th century. (TAS episode: "The Magicks of Megas-Tu")

In 2266, celebrated Earth mathematician and pacifist Alfred Bleikoff, cryogenically frozen in the 1990s, was revived aboard the USS Enterprise. Once on Earth, he embarked on a campaign to have the planetary Earth defense screen removed, and his persuasive personality swayed audiences. He delivered speeches in Rome, Mariana City, New Chicago, and then in Jerusalem.
