Jhet'leya was a 24th century Kobali woman,[1] a citizen on Kobali Prime[2] reborn from the Human Starfleet officer Lyndsay Ballard in the year 2374.[1] (VOY episode: "Ashes to Ashes", STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Dust to Dust")

History[]

Ensign Lyndsay Ballard perished on an away mission on stardate 51563 in 2374. Her corpse was recovered by the Kobali. In the process of rebirth, Jhet'leya was made from the remains. Jhet'leya was placed in a family with a younger sister but struggled to forget her time aboard USS Voyager and being Human. She commandeered a Kobali shuttle and spent years tracking down Voyager, which had continued its journey through the Delta Quadrant.

They caught up in 2376, and the Doctor restored "Ballard's" physiognomy. However, Jhet'leya came to accept her post-rebirth identity and returned to her people. (VOY episode: "Ashes to Ashes")

At some point, she recovered the body of an alternate Harry Kim from where he had died in 2372. He was kept in a stasis pod in the underground sections of the Kobali temple on Kobali Prime. Jhet'leya promised to take good care of him. (STO - Kobali Crisis Act III mission: "Our Chance for Peace")

Jhet'leya on Keten

Jhet'leya argues for Keten.

The reborn Harry Kim, now Keten, also struggled with his former Humanity and escaped deeper into the Kobali temple. Jhet'leya met up with Captain Harry Kim of the USS Rhode Island in the temple and they joined forced to convince Keten to stand down. Captain Kim was hurt that Jhet'leya had kept the existence and rebirth of Keten from him. Jhet'leya argued that Keten was a person of his own, free to determine his own identity. Keten captured command codes and commandeered the new Kobali flagship KDC Samsar, escaping into Hirogen space. The Samsar was disabled by the Rhode Island. Jhet'leya and Kim beamed to the Samsar bridge and talked Keten down. Jhet'leya affirmed she would take care of Keten because he's family but also let him choose his own future, including a potential return to Starfleet. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Dust to Dust")
