- Jiang appears to be based upon the Primary universe character Liang Jin, whom, like his Kelvin timeline counterpart, served as first officer under Captain Garth of Izar aboard that reality's USS Heisenberg, but was killed in 2251 by a hand phaser fired by Garth when attempting to prevent the insane captain from carrying out the planetary genocide of Antos IV.
