Jianuk was a male Reman who in 2380 commanded the Reman Free Vessel Vkruk. Jianuk had been loyal to Shinzon during his brief coup of the Romulan Star Empire. Jianuk claimed he and others who had renounced Shinzon following his defeat were being persecuted by the new government, and with twenty-eight fellow Remans, fled to Federation Outpost 22 to request political asylum.
However, Jianuk's claims raised the suspicions of the outpost's CO, Commander Heidi Bowles. When it was discovered he and his passengers were still Shinzon loyalists, Jianuk ordered a suicide run at the outpost. All Remans were killed, along with three Starfleet crew on the outpost.
