Lieutenant Jim Peart was a Starfleet officer who was assigned to the USS Enterprise-E in the 2370s.

Biography[]

Peart's quarters were at deck six, section four. In 2378, after earning the trust and respect of Security Chief Christine Vale, Peart was assigned as second-in-command of security by Commander Riker. In 2379 he was commander of the Sierra team to Tezwa's Kolidos Desert. (TNG novel: A Time to Kill)

After the Federation assumed control over Tezwa, Lieutenant Peart saw considerable action leading security teams, including several raids on suspected loyalist strongholds. One such raid in Odina-Keh ended up to be a trap; Peart had unwillingly led over one hundred Starfleet Special Operations personnel to their deaths. After the massacre, Peart sought out the advice of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and suggested to Vale that Starfleet should rethink their policies on urban combat to allow for a greater leverage in force.

Jim Peart led the boarding team which secured the freighter Venezia after its impounding by the Enterprise.

After the Tezwa assignment, he resigned from Starfleet due to his personal feelings over the deaths necessary to cover up the government's actions, leaving with Kell Perim, with whom he was romantically involved. (TNG novel: A Time to Heal)
