Heisenberg was a descendant of physicist Werner Heisenberg.
In 2371, Heisenberg chaired the physics department at Starfleet Academy. He managed staff that included Professors Joan Chupp, Richard Kaufmann, Telek, and Alos V'nar. He oversaw a curriculum that included PHYS 101 Introduction to Physics, PHYS 205 General Physics, PHYS 208 Photonics, PHYS 310 Astrophysics, PHYS 318 Nuclear Physics, and PHYS 454 Elementary Temporal Mechanics.
