Sir John Burke was a male Human astronomer from London, England, in the 21st century.

Biography[]

Burke served as the Chief Astronomer for the Royal Academy, and was the first to chart the star of a world later known as Sherman's Planet. (TOS episode: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

Burke had at least one child, a daughter named Monica. In his later years, he walked with the assistance of a cane. During the rise of the Optimum Movement, he concealed a short range laser emitter in his cane, which he used in self-defense against Colonel Adrik Thorsen at Battersea Stadium in 2078. Ensign Pavel Chekov once mistakenly identified Burke as "Ivan Burkoff", a Russian national. (TOS episode: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

A USS Enterprise shuttlecraft, John Burke, was named after him. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)
