John Canning (1923- ) is a British comic strip and cover artist. He illustrated two annual stories for the UK comic strips series as well as two covers that reprinted Gold Key Comics stories.
Also while working on TV Comic for Polystyle Publications, he drew 91 original Doctor Who stories, 29 of which featured the Fourth Doctor, whom James T. Kirk, Spock and Leonard McCoy met in TNG - Assimilation² comic: "Issue 3".
Canning has drawn a variety of strip titles, including TV's The Avengers, Captain Caveman, Charlie's Angels, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Tarzan.
