John J. Ordover is an author who was an editor for the Star Trek line at Pocket Books in the 1990s and early 2000s. During his tenure, he co-developed several innovative projects, such as the Star Trek: New Frontier and Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers series, the Strange New Worlds contest (for which he was a judge and editor), and a number of book mini-series. He left Pocket Books in 2003.

With writing partner David Mack, he also wrote the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Starship Down," and contributed the story for "It's Only a Paper Moon".
