Legacy[]
In 2286, as he considered the end of his career, Captain James T. Kirk wondered if it would end clouded by political intrigue as Jones's had, or heroically like Horatio Nelson's. (TOS novel: Timetrap)
Leonard McCoy quoted Jones, saying "Give me a fast ship, and I'll put her in harm's way," as a way of encouraging his friend Admiral Jo Stern after a frustrating conversation with Brett Ryan of the United Earth Police. (CoE eBook: Ghost)
The Mission-class USS John Paul Jones was presumably named for this celebrated commander. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
