John Taylor was a male Human efficiency auditor in the Federation Auditor General's office in the 23rd century.

In 2275, Taylor led a team of auditors to the USS Enterprise in order to evaluate the ship's efficiency. Taylor was constantly on Captain Kirk's bad side and this led to conflicts between the two. Eventually, Taylor's team was ordered to accompany the Enterprise on a mission, during which Taylor was killed by an Orion agent aboard the ship. (TOS novel: Death Count)
