See Jones for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Jones, a.k.a. Agent 347, was a 20th century Human woman, an Augment serving as an Aegis intervention specialist on the planet Earth in the 1960s decade.

Biography[]

Jones' ancestors were captured from Earth by the Aegis circa 4000 BC, in order to fashion agents through selective breeding to aid in the development and survival of humanity.

In the year 1968, Jones and her partner Smith maintained an office in New York City. Claiming to be researchers for a new encyclopedia, they hired Roberta Lincoln as their secretary. While on a mission to disrupt the launch of an orbital weapon platform, Jones and Smith died in a traffic accident, and Supervisor Gary Seven was sent to Earth to complete their mission. (TOS episode: "Assignment: Earth", ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia)

Jones and Smith suspected that Counter Strike was operating on Earth. While investigating in McQuade County, Florida not far from McKinley Rocket Base, they stayed in room 15 of the DownRange Motel. While there, Jones was concerned that encrypting their evidence in the Beta 5 computer would prevent anyone from knowing about their activities for months or years. They then left the hotel in a black sedan, but a large truck rammed their car into the Ryerson River bridge on Route 949, killing them.

True enough, the data was not uncovered until 1971. Using a level nine bioscan, Seven was able to see Jones and Smith in the motel and retrace their steps, seeing that the agents had been killed deliberately. Seven and Lincoln followed up by visiting the McQuade County Sheriff's office and soon were beamed aboard a Counter Strike starship. (TOS - Assignment: Earth comic: "We Have Met the Enemy...")

Background[]

In TOS novel: From History's Shadow, rather than Mrs. Jones, Agent 347 was Ryan Vitali, and Agent 201 was shown to be Elizabeth Anderson instead of Mr. Smith. Instead of the threat of Counter Strike, they investigated the presence of Certoss agents from the Temporal Cold War on Earth. Given that changes have occurred in the prime timeline due to that war (as shown explicitly in canon in SNW episode: "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow"), it's possible for both sequences of events to have happened in different iterations or continuities of the timeline.
