Josip Vossted was a male Human that lived in the 24th century. He was a descendant of a lost colony of humans from the planet Footfall that fled Earth to escape the Eugenics Wars, but were then found by the Tseetsk and were made slaves. He held the position of overseer, managing the human slave labor force for the terraforming project on Koorn.

Biography[]

Sometime during the 2300s decade, Vossted was assigned by the Sree-Tseetsk to manage the slaves on Koorn. There he befriended Drraagh, becoming her honorary family member. In addition he befriended the young Iarni Koban. He found the boy barely clinging to life after he had been left for dead in the frozen wasteland and took him under his wing, treating him as a son and teaching him his skills in engineering.

Unlike most of the overseers, Vossted treated the slaves with fairness. He always believed that other humans existed in the galaxy somewhere. His stories were a source of inspiration to his charges. When he was young, Vossted had the chance to visit Tseetsk-Home. What he saw there changed his impressions of the Tseetsk, who he originally saw as enslavers. Due to his impression, Vossted refused to take sides between the human slaves or his Tseetsk master and stayed neutral, believing that there was an alternative to a bloody revolution.

When the Federation Starfleet starship USS Enterprise-D came, the existence of free humans prompted a rebellion led by Koban. Nearly all the overseers were killed. He and Drraagh were the only ones left alive. Many of the slaves driven by generations of hatred for the overseers wanted to kill him, despite his benign stance towards them. He was saved by Koban who couldn't bring to himself to kill his old teacher. When they threatened Drraagh he stood between the angry mob until Captain Jean-Luc Picard took custody of the regent.

Josip was allowed certain freedom, showing the Enterprise crew the computer cube, allowing Lieutenant Commander Data to gain insight on Tseetsk society and its history. Josip was shot with a disruptor by a surviving overseer. He was beamed to the Enterprise so as to save his life. When he came to he learned that Koban had attacked the Enterprise crew on the planet and taken Captain Picard and Counselor Deanna Troi hostage to extort the starship into waging a genocidal war on the Tseetsk.
