The Jovian class[1], also known as Titan raider[2] was a 32nd century[2] civilian[2] starship type, a raider[2] in piracy[2] service in the 3180s[2] decade. (DSC episode: "People of Earth", STO website: House Reborn: Command the Jovian Raider!)

History and specifications[]

Vessels of this class were in use by the research colony on the Saturnian moon Titan by the late 3180s. These Titan raiders operated as vessels of piracy and were deployed against Earth, controlled by United Earth and protected by the United Earth Defense Force (EDF), to steal dilithium. (DSC episode: "People of Earth")

Originally, these craft had served as mining vessels. They were equipped with effective tractor beams and morphed into harvester mode to engage in mining operations. During combat engagements, the threat deterrent charge launcher could confuse enemy sensors, rendering the Jovian raider less threatening in the opponent's perception. (STO website: House Reborn: Command the Jovian Raider!)

Wen was the leader of the dilithium raiders harassing Earth. In the year 3189, Titan raiders attacked Earth during a visit of the time-displaced Federation starship USS Discovery. A skirmish ensued between Wen's raiders, the EDF and Discovery. The situation was diffused by the intervention of Commander Michael Burnham and Courier Cleveland Booker. Captain Saru of Starfleet helped mediate a truce between Titan colonist Wen and EDF Captain Ndoye. (DSC episode: "People of Earth")

The members of the Khitomer Alliance gained access to this 32nd century starship class in the year 2411. Categorised as a tier 6 heavy intel raider, the Jovian raider was made available to the military services of each member state. At the time of launch, those were Federation Starfleet, the Klingon Defense Force, the Romulan Republic Navy, and the Dominion's Jem'Hadar Vanguard Fleet.
