The son of a minor house, Captain K'Vada was a Klingon officer who served in the Klingon Defense Force in the 24th century. By the late 2360s, K'Vada commanded the bird-of-prey, IKS Kruge.
In 2368, K'Vada was ordered to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) and covertly transport Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data to Romulus and back, so they could track the whereabouts of Ambassador Spock. While transporting Picard and Data to Romulus, K'Vada was suffering from a dislocated shoulder, which Data was able to heal. Data was further able to break into the Romulan communications network, and shared his findings with K'Vada. Impressed with Data's abilities, K'Vada filed a recommendation that the Empire develop an artificial life form of its own. K'Vada also gained a measure of respect for Picard after Picard's angry response when K'Vada refused one of Picard's requests. (TNG novelization: Unification)
Following the Dominion War, K'Vada was given command of the IKS Vidd.
K'Vada was a member of the Order of the Bat'leth, and in 2376, he received a summons from fellow Order member Captain Klag of the IKS Gorkon.
The order was originally created by Lukara, the widow of Kahless the Unforgettable, to insure that Klingon honor was upheld by the Empire's warriors. Klag's message revealed that Fleet General Talak intended to go back on an honorable agreement made in good faith with the natives of the world of San-Tarah. Klag, having made the deal with the natives, intended to force the issue and defend them against Talak. K'Vada decided to answer the summons and stand beside Klag in the battle against Talak and his forces.
The battle of San-Tarah was a victory for the Order and Klingon honor, and Captain K'Vada died a glorious death after he ordered the mortally wounded Vidd on a collision course with the IKS Gogam of Talak's fleet. (GKN novel: Honor Bound)
