K'mtok was a Klingon who served as Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets from 2379 onward.

K'mtok succeeded Lantar in the post, after Federation President Min Zife bypassed the ambassador to negotiate directly with Chancellor Martok during the Tezwa crisis. Given this perception of weakness, Klingon Councillor Kopek argued for Lantar's recall, and K'mtok's selection as his replacement.

K'mtok favored a more hard-line approach to Klingon-Federation relations. He initially believed that Zife's successor, President Nanietta Bacco, would be easily intimidated into acquiescing to his strong-arm tactics, but soon learned to respect Bacco as a formidable opponent. (ST novels: A Time for War, A Time for Peace, Articles of the Federation)

During the invasion of the Borg Collective in 2381, the USS Enterprise-E followed a lead near the Azure Nebula along the border between the Federation, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Star Empire. Anticipating military action, President Bacco had Secretary Safranski summon the Ambassador. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)

When the Borg Invasion of 2381 reached a critical stage, President Bacco called an emergency summit on Earth hoping to convince the various ambassadors to pledge support to an allied fleet to defend against the invading Borg Collective. K'mtok was angered at Tholian Assembly Ambassador Tezrene's statement that the invasion was a purely internal Federation matter, recalling the attack of Khitomer, and questioned when Kalavak would have Praetor Tal'Aura make reparations for the attack on Klorgat IV. K'mtok immediately pledged the support of the Klingon Defense Force to the allied fleet, and was allowed to leave the summit. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)

In 2382, K'mtok responded to the Federation Council's criticism when the Klingon Empire retook Khitomer from the Romulan Star Empire. (ST website: The Path to 2409)
