Kaarg (d. 2323) was a large, sluggish Klingon male who served in the Klingon Defense Force before gaining a seat on the Klingon High Council and eventually becoming Chancellor in 2311.
As a general, Kaarg was often thought of as a back-room planner lacking the ability to actually lead. He relied on strategy to a much greater extent than force, such as his infamous stalling of a Tholian incursion fleet in 2309.
In 2311, Gorak commanded the IKS NuH'Bey and joined the USS Enterprise-B at the Romulan Neutral Zone during the Tomed Incident.
When rumors arose that Chancellor Azetbur was soon to be challenged by General Gorak, Kaarg offered to extend some of his guards to defend Azetbur. One of these guards, Morahg (actually Ditagh in disguise), killed Gorak during his attempt on Azetbur, but then turned to murder Azetbur so that General Kaarg could rise to become Chancellor (TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins).
One of Kaarg's first acts as Chancellor was to ban women from ever again holding the office of Chancellor. Overall, Kaarg was thought of as a chancellor who did little to advance the empire in any significant way. After Kaarg's death in 2323, he was succeeded by Ditagh. (TLE novel: The Art of the Impossible).
