Kalem Apren was a male Bajoran in the 24th century. Kalem was married to Kalem Raina.

Biography[]

In 2323, Kalem was the Minister for Hedrikspool Province. At a meeting with Kubus Oak in that year, Kalem asked how many Cardassian starships would soon be sent to Bajoran space. (ST - Terok Nor novel: Day of the Vipers)

During the Occupation, Kalem worked as an arbiter in the Kendra Valley. (ST - Terok Nor novel: Dawn of the Eagles)

Kalem served as First Minister of the Republic of Bajor from 2369 until his death in 2371. Kalem's death prompted an election in which Kai Winn Adami and former Bajoran Resistance leader Shakaar Edon competed, leading to Shakaar's election. (DS9 episode: "Shakaar", DS9 novel: The 34th Rule)
