Kaltar was a Klingon male. Kaltar was of noble blood, having descended from the Emperor Mur'Eq. Kaltar was the father of Kor, grandfather to Rynar, and great-grandfather to Rynar's son Kor, son of Rynar.
Kaltar was the leader of the Klingon House that would eventually be known as the House of Kor. The leadership eventually passed to his son Kor. Kor and his family would be infected with the Qu'Vat virus and were changed into QuchHa' as a result. Afterwards Kor renamed the House as the House of Mur'Eq to remind himself of the origins of the family. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Live by the Code)
