Kanassarum was a city state that was situated at the foothills of the greatest mountain range on the planet Romulus.
It was the mountains that had been the source of the city's glory as they provided the scant resources required to make the first voyages to the sister world of Remus. This resulted in the city becoming the Romulan Confederations first space center and meant that the other states abandoned space programs so that all the Romulan's people efforts were concentrated at one position.
Currently, the space center serves as a museum which shows the early efforts to reach Remus. The landing fields are rarely used now as it was discovered long ago that it was cheaper to build vessels in orbit rather than use precious resources to defeat gravity.
Kanassasrum serves as a popular tourist attraction as an open field near the space museum holds a statue of S'Tanet making gestures to the stars. This highlights the first step on the Road to the Stars. While the children in the schools know well that her voyage began elsewhere, it was at Kanassarum where the first steps of the People began.
