Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Kangus IV was a planet, the fourth planet in the Kangus star system.

History and specifics[]

Kangus IV was the homeworld of a native civilization fascinated with death. One of their favorite activities was to place their collective consciousness into a machine which simulated the destruction of their planet, allowing them to safely experience earthquakes, storms, famines, wars, and other disasters. Q discovered this and decided to grant their wish by destroying their world, but when he found they did not enjoy it, he put their world back together again. The people were so terrified by the real-life experience that they never used the machine again. (TNG novel: I, Q)
