Karos was a 23rd century Iskonian man, a rebel freedom fighter who resided on the planet Iskonia.

Biography[]

Karos was experimented on by the planet's Omnimind overlord, not with cybernetics but by making him proportionally giant compared to other Iskonians. He escaped to join the world's underground resistance, eventually becoming part of Strike Force, Unit 7. He became friends with fellow rebel Lyra.

In the year 2274, Karos and one of his teammates spied a group of three Starfleet security officers with phaser rifles near the Hall of Science, but with their headgear they looked like faceless Omnimind androids, and he reported them to Strike Force. Soon he witnessed other robots apparently deactivating the androids and taking them away.

When Lyra led Captain James T. Kirk, Commander Spock, and Sergeant Umeki through a section of the capital city to rendezvous with the security team, they ran into Karos. He described what he saw, and that the captured officers had been taken to the Main Dome fortress.

Karos helped them breech the Main Dome. Karos ran off to draw fire from approaching robots, and Kirk blasted a hole in the exterior with a photon grenade. Unfortunately, Omnimind's robots killed Karos.

Kirk gave a brief eulogy for the man, quoting a line from William Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra: "Our sighs of sorrow, proportioned to our cause must be as great as that which makes it." (TOS comic: "Restructuring Is Futile")
