Kasha Tal

Kasha Tal in 3189.

Kasha Tal[1] was a Federation citizen, a Trill woman[2] associated with the Trill Symbiosis Commission. She was the first[1] host of the Tal symbiont and preceded Captain Tal, who lived around the turn of the 25th century. Following her death, Tal was transferred to another host. (DSC episode: "Forget Me Not")

Biography[]

At some point in her life, Kasha had learned how to play music on the cello. She passed skill to play this Earth[3] instrument on to the 32nd century hosts Gray and Adira Tal. (DSC episode: "The Sanctuary")

Kasha encountered spider lightning and barely survived. (DSC episode: "All Is Possible")

Civilian Tal hostess

Kasha during the communion.

In the year 3189, Kasha was among the hosts meeting Adira Tal and Commander Michael Burnham in a mindscape induced at the Caves of Mak'ala during a communion between Adira, Burnham and the Trill symbionts swimming in the ponds. Adira was welcomed into the circle of hosts, the first Human to carry Tal. The communion established a full connection between the Tal symbiont and Adira, allowing them to access the memories of their previous hosts. Kasha, and the other hosts, crossed their arms over their chest to signify Adira's acceptance into the circle.

At the time, Kasha and a male host were the only civilians among the circle, which also included three Starfleet officers.

Following the experience, Adira was able to recall the name of every previous host to Guardian Xi, which satisfied Leader Pav and the rest of the Trill leadership that a Human-symbiont union was desirable. (DSC episode: "Forget Me Not")

During a Starfleet Academy training mission on stardate 865661.2 in 3190, Ensign Adira Tal encountered spider lightning on Kokytos. They recalled Kasha's experience with this form of lightning. (DSC episode: "All Is Possible")

Background[]

  • "Forget Me Not" establishes Kasha as the first host. "The Sanctuary" establishes Kasha was female. Tal had two female hosts. One wore a Starfleet uniform resembling the uniform style of Senna Tal's era and the tricom badge from 3189. She lived after Captain Tal, who donned the SF 2399 uniform, so she cannot have been the first host. That combination only leaves the remaining Trill woman as Kasha.
