Katheka contained a mild stimulant, roughly analagous to Earth coffee or Klingon raktajino.

In the year 2376, Phillipa Matthias drank katheka while on Andor. (DS9 - Worlds of DS9 novel: Andor: Paradigm)

29th century Starfleet Captain Juel Ducane drank katheka in the observation lounge of the timeship USS Relativity while the ship was assigned to time travel on a science mission at the Typhon Expanse temporal anomaly circa the 13th century. (ST - Coda novel: Moments Asunder)
