In 2364, while serving aboard Tarr's Marauder, Kayron encountered an away team from the USS Enterprise-D at Delphi Ardu IV, a Tkon Empire outpost. (TNG episode: "The Last Outpost")
After DaiMon Tarr was sanctioned, he and Letek left the ship to work independently. When a database revealed that Fort Knox stored gold, Kayron acquired a pair of Zemien RMN-5 cloaking suits from Elgrak to attempt a theft. The pair successfully slipped past the vault's outer defenses, but were apprehended before they could use pattern enhancers to beam gold out of the vault.
