The Kendra Valley Massacre was a tragic event during in the Cardassian occupation of Bajor that took place in the Kendra Valley in Kendra Province in 2368.

History and specifics[]

Forty-two members of the Bajoran Resistance were killed by the Cardassian Guard when the location of their stronghold was revealed by a collaborator. Kai Opaka Sulan's son Fasil was among the dead. (DS9 episode: "The Collaborator", TLE - Terok Nor novel: Dawn of the Eagles)

The massacre was one of many events in Bajoran history accurately predicted by the Ohalu Prophecies. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One)

In 2370 Vedek Bareil Antos was inconclusively implicated as the collaborator in question, forcing him to withdraw his candidacy for the Kaiship. However, Major Kira Nerys discovered that Bareil had an alibi and was only protecting the memory of Kai Opaka. She had ordered her aide Prylar Bek to reveal the partisans' location to the Cardassians to keep the occupiers from slaughtering over 1,200 civilians in hopes of eliminating the Resistance cell.
