For other uses, see Kentari.

The Kentari Union was an interstellar nation-state, a union of the Kentari people based on New Kentar in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant. They migrated to the New Kentar star system in the Gon'cra Nebula from their original homeworld Kentar. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Mirrors and Smoke")

History and specifics[]

The government was based in a skyscraper in the capital Kentar City. The executive consisted of the Prime Minister of the Kentari Union and the defense minister, who oversaw law enforcement and defense. Because of the deteriorating environment and squalor of the population's living conditions in the early 25th century, there was a divide between progressives and the Traditionalist political party. In the 2410s, Tuulemaan served as prime minister and Pentaaro as defense minister.

New Kentar was settled by the Kentari after their civilization had rendered their original homeworld Kentar uninhabitable through pollution. By the year 2410, New Kentar was suffering a similar fate. Agriculture was based on the planet's moon, New Kentar Moon. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Mirrors and Smoke")

On Kentar, the thinker Lukar proposed a new philosophy to stop the pollution but was rejected. His followers evolved into the Lukari, and lost the civil war with the Kentari. At the end of the war, they left the Huranzi system in the Great Exodus. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Of Signs and Portents")

New Kentar Moon restored

LSS Reskava restores New Kentar Moon.

In 2410, Kentari made first contact with the Lukari Concordium and the Khitomer Alliance when their system was visited by the Lukari science vessel LSS Reskava and their Alliance escort. The visitors, led by Captain Kuumaarke, were dismayed by the squalor and pollution found in Kentar City. Kentari partisans, fuelled by xenophobia, attacked the away team outside the government tower. Tuulemaan joined forces with the visitors when the Tzenkethi Coalition targeted New Kentar Moon with protomatter bombs, but a Traditionalist force led by defense minister Pentaaro attacked the Kentari's newfound allies. When the Traditionalist fleet was subdued, Tuulemaan agreed to enter a cordial relationship with the Lukari and their Alliance partners. She met Captain Kuumaarke aboard the Reskava for talks. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Mirrors and Smoke")

To forge peace between the Kentari and Lukari, the Kentari Union and the Lukari Concordium settled the planet Dranuur Prime in the Dranuur star system together. Dranuur Colony was quickly able to thrive due to the synergy between Kentari and Lukari technology and philosophy. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Melting Pot")
