The Kepler was a Federation shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. The shuttle was assigned to the Starfleet Corps of Engineers' Daedalus-class starship USS Lovell in the 2260s decade.
Specifics[]
Kepler was a medium-range shuttle equipped with vertical thrusters. It had a rear hatchway that served as an entry ramp.
Service history[]
In 2266, Ensign Brian O'Halloran and copilot Ensign Jeffrey Anderson piloted Kepler, bringing a survey team to a landing site on Gamma Tauri IV. The survey team was led by Lieutenant Donovan Adams and included geologist Blaise Selby, science officer Sh'Neroth and security guards Kattan and Ndufe. Not long after their arrival, two dozen Shedai Sentinels dismembered the team, and O'Halloran launched Kepler as quickly as possible. Anderson lost his right arm during their escape, but the shuttle safely returned to the Lovell. (VAN novel: Reap the Whirlwind)
