Kevin Devlin was a 23rd century Human man, a Federation master trader and author.

Biography[]

In the year 2289, Devlin contributed the article Becoming a Merchant Spaceman for Spacelanes magazine. Romantically recruiting the next generation of traders, he described various types of apprenticeship programs and formal education through merchant academies to earn certifications and an Interstellar Merchants License. He also made an appeal to retired Starfleet veterans, citing support through UFP/Independent Traders Association organizations such as the Fleet Veterans Trade Alliance and Marine Veterans Trade Alliance. (FASA RPG module: Spacelanes: The Magazine of Interstellar Trade)

Quotes[]

  • "It is not the pure desire for profit that prompts those who become interstellar merchants. Along with the drive for exploration goes a desire to shape what one finds to one's needs and to return home with the best of what the Unknown has to offer. It is this basic desire of intelligent beings to go out and return, bringing back more than they had before, that motivates the interstellar trader."
