Kickboxing was a Human martial art, a type of competitive unarmed combat.

History and specifics[]

It was developed in east Asia on the planet Earth, along with muay thai, karate, and taekwondo. (Adventures RPG module: The Operations Division)

Solo practice involved the use of a dummy stand-in. USS Enterprise-E tactical officer Aneta Šmrhová was a devotee of this art. (TNG - The Fall novel: Peaceable Kingdoms)

Romulans had a similar art known as Tenalri. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Way of D'era: The Romulan Star Empire)

In the year 2370, Jake Sisko was attacked by Kala, whose maneuvers Jake compared to kickboxing. Jake was able to restrain him using wrestling moves he learned from Nog. (DS9 - YA novel: Gypsy World)

In 2381, the rogue artificial intelligence Badgey trapped USS Cerritos officers and visitors in the starship's holodeck. In one of Badgey's drills, Mariner was subjected to the Kataan probe and experienced life on Kataan as Kamin's daughter Cheminée. Kamin once suggested that she take his Ressikan flute to help her learn patience. She said she'd prefer to take up kickboxing. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive event: "The Inner Light")
