ShadowLord-art

An artistic interpretation of an encounter with kik-kiks.

A kik-kik is a type of large insect, a beetle-like animal indigenous to the planet Angira.

Anatomy[]

A kik-kik is about one foot long (0.3 meters), with six double-jointed legs and extremely strong mandibles. It has a black carapace notable for having two bioluminescent eye-like markings on its back. Its name comes from the sound produced when its wing-case snaps against its carapace.

Ecology and behavior[]

Kik-kiks fulfill the ecological role of rats on Earth while being as common as an Earth cockroach. They live underground, traveling in large hordes.

History[]

In 2266, Spock, Hikaru Sulu, Bibil, Urmi and Prince Vikram encountered kik-kiks during an escape from Angira's royal palace after a coup d'état. As they fled through a forgotten, underground dungeon, hundreds of kik-kiks pursued and bit them. Bibil was smothered and killed by large number of the insects, but the others made it to the surface.
