Kira Taban was a Bajoran male. He was the husband of Meru. They had two sons, Pohl and Reon, and a daughter, Nerys.
In the mid-23rd century, Meru was taken to be a 'comfort woman' for the Cardassians, and in return the family received more rations. However, Taban never forgot his love for Meru and praised her for her courage. When Taban took in Tir Ramara after her family's death, she noticed the extra rations, and informed the resistance who instructed her to take the excess to give to those more needy. When Taban caught her in this act, she accused him of being a traitor and ran away. Subsequently, to avoid being hounded as collaborators, the Kiras were forced to give up their extra rations.
