Sir Kivin was a 23rd century Human man of the clan Omega Level II, a resident of a lost Earth colony on the planet Fortenue.

Biography[]

By the 2270s, Kivin had been knighted and served as key advisor to the colony's High Captain Argus.

In the year 2279, Argus's daughter, the Lady Dyana, brought an unconscious Spock back to their castle, and he was cared for under Argus's authority. Spock awoke with amnesia, and Kivin overheard Spock telling Dyana that she looked beautiful. He spied on them as they walked through Barnam Wood unescorted, a violation of their law, and reported back to Argus. Argus was deeply angered by this news, believing Spock betrayed his trust, and resolved to have the Vulcan killed.

Soon, Kivin and Argus spotted a shuttlecraft landing in the castle courtyard. Kivin recognized it as the same type of flying chariot that Spock was found in. Kivin attended a dinner with Vice-Admiral James T. Kirk and Doctor Leonard McCoy, who were searching for their missing crew. When Argus drugged Kirk's mead, Kivin agreed with Argus that Kirk would solve the Spock problem for them. While drugged, Kirk was compelled to play the role of the Black Knight and face Spock in a deadly trial by combat. During the battle, Kivin said he was certain Kirk would kill Spock even while drugged. But Dyana overheard the comment and warned Spock, which helped him end the battle without loss of life. (TOS comic: "Goodbye to Spock")
