For other uses, see Kivra.

The Kivra class was a 24th century Imperial Klingon spacecraft, a shuttlepod in service from the 2370s decade. (TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment)

In the 25th century, the Klingon Defense Force operated tier 1-rated Kivra-class shuttlecraft in the 2400s and 2410s. (STO - Empire mission: "The Hunt is On")

Technical data[]

The Kivra class was comparable to the Starfleet Type-8 shuttlecraft. Both ship types lacked a cloaking device. (STO - Empire mission: "The Hunt is On")

The Romulan Republic Navy counterpart was the Tiercel-class. (STO - From the Ashes mission: "Explore the Flotilla")

Visually, the Kivra resembled the larger 25th century Toron-class runabout-equivalent. While the Kivra was an angular, trapezoid-like craft - like the Toron-class was in the 24th century[3] - the modern Toron included an expanded aft section with warp nacelles mounted on nacelle pylons. In the 25th century, the avionics interior for all Klingon shuttles was standardized. The Kivra-shuttle required at least one officer to pilot and could accommodate passengers.

The hull material or livery could be modified at any allied shipyard. The Praxis Station shioyard offered two hull types. (STO - Empire mission: "The Hunt is On")

Service history[]

Kivra class variants

Kivra-class variants in 2411.

In 2373, Klingon assassins presenting themselves as Chancellor Gowron and his bodyguard used a Kivra-class shuttlepod to rendezvous with Starfleet Captains Jean-Luc Picard and Benjamin Sisko in the Badlands. (TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment)

In the year 2409, Kivra-class shuttles were commonly deployed on Imperial ships and installations, including the Fleet Klingon Embassy on New Romulus. (STO - New Romulus mission: "Staging Area")

Flag officers of the Khitomer Alliance could deploy the IKS Kivra alongside other small craft and starships for assignments across the galaxy's quadrants as part of Operation: Delta Rising's four-quadrant strategy. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Admiralty System")

From 2410 onwards, the IKS Kivra represented its class on the shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Refractions missions: "The Hunt is On", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "Explore the Flotilla")
