Klyta was a Bajoran female and a member of the Bajoran Resistance during the Occupation of Bajor. Klyta's family possessed a rare copy of When the Prophets Cried that they passed down from generation to generation.

Klyta was a friend of Kira Taban and they fought the Cardassians together. Klyta was killed by a Cardassian garrison during a raid and, as she had no siblings or children, she told Taban to give the book to his daughter Kira Nerys. Kira was unaware of Klyta's family name and planned to consult the Central Archives for information on her in 2372. (DS9 novel: The 34th Rule)
