Kobol was a star, a G class yellow star with an associated star system, located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

The Kobol system's orbit was the location of twelve of worlds, including seventh planet Kobol VII.
The system is located near the border of the First Federation, in the general vicinity of Amerind, Tiburon and Fesarius system. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps)
"Kobol" was also the name of a fictional planet from an epic science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica.
