The kok-ido was a species of bird native to the planet Khepri, and was considered a delicacy by the planets inhabitants.
When Starfleet Fleet Admiral Karis Tatenen boarded the USS Enterprise for a top-secret diplomatic mission in 2277, he brought with him some kok-ido which were later served at a banquet in Tatenen's honor. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "The Blaze of Glory")
