Kolodny was a human who served on the SS Valiant under Captain Carlos Tarasco. On 30 December 2069, Kolodny was one of the six crewmen who died of electromagnetic shock when the Valiant attempted to cross the galactic barrier. (TNG novel: The Valiant)
