Korath, son of Monak was a Klingon scientist who lived during the 24th and 25th centuries.
Biography[]
In 2368, Korath tried to convince the Klingon High Council to allow him to develop an engine capable of time travel. Korath was stopped when Gariff Lucsly convinced the council it would be a dishonorable breach of the Temporal Accords to develop the engine. In early 2382, Korath took part in a series of summits hosted by the Federation in order to foster greater understanding among different galactic powers. Later that year, Korath attended a meeting of temporal scientists held by Professor Vard. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)

Korath with Kahless II and Rozhenko in 2378.
By 2378, Korath had helped create the god-killing capabilities of Emperor Kahless II's superior bird-of-prey. (DFT - Volume 1 comic: "Issue 4")
Alternate histories[]
In an alternate timeline, Korath created a time travel device known as the chrono-deflector in 2403. Admiral Kathryn Janeway attempted to obtain the device from him in order to carry out her plan to alter history. Korath agreed to Janeway's request, on the pretext that she would help him obtain a seat on the Klingon High Council. Janeway honored her part of the agreement, but Korath refused to turn over the deflector until she also provided him with ablative generator technology. Janeway stole the deflector and escaped, successfully carrying out her plan to change history and bring the USS Voyager home years earlier (compared to her original timeline). Appendices[]
Background[]
"Endgame" was Korath's sole canon on-screen appearance. He was portrayed in that episode by Vaughn Armstrong, reprising his role from Star Trek: The Experience.
The novel Watching the Clock also implies that Korath was the man who enabled the adult Alexander Rozhenko to travel back in time and assume the identity of K'mtar. (TNG episode: "Firstborn")
